Affirmations: How do they work? How can I incorporate them in to my daily life?

Affirmation (noun) – The action or process of affirming something

What are affirmations?

Affirmations are positive statements and phrases that we repeat to ourselves on a regular basis.  By doing this, our subconscious mind will begin to accept these new statements which will then help to shape our reality. Affirmations go hand in hand with the practice of positive thinking. 

An affirmation is more than just a feel-good quote or phrase, they need to be repeated on a daily basis in order to be effective. When practiced for long enough, your affirming statement(s) will become second nature to you. You will begin to feel encouraged and uplifted in many aspects of your daily life which can lead to positive changes. You can focus your affirmations on any area of your life you would like to improve whether that be relationships, financial or emotional wellbeing. 

Here are some simple affirmations to help you begin:

I am creating the best life for myself

I am worthy of all the good things coming my way

I make positive choices for myself 

How can I incorporate affirmations in to my daily life?


1. Get clear on what you want your positive focus to be. 

Remember- Like attracts like! Whatever you focus on, you will receive more of.

2. Commit to working with this intention/repeating your affirmations on a daily basis.

Tip-  Write your affirmations down and put them somewhere where you are likely to see them everyday. For example, on the front of the fridge or on the bathroom mirror. That way, you can repeat your affirming statements in your head or out loud. 

3. Check in with yourself.

Are my affirmations and intentions helping me work towards my goal(s)?

Do my affirmations align with what I want?
